Alpharetta football coach leaves for out-of-state opportunity (macon.com) — Alpharetta High School’s head football coach Brian Landis has resigned after just one season to pursue an out-of-state opportunity, leaving the Raiders searching for new leadership. Interim duties will be handled by Ron Jankovich and offensive coordinator PJ Katz after a 2-8 season that included wins over Forsyth Central and South Forsyth.
   

2. FBI serves arrest warrant during standoff at Alpharetta hotel (fox5atlanta.com) — A large law-enforcement response shut down part of the area around the Comfort Suites on Kingswood Place Monday as the FBI served an arrest warrant on a barricaded suspect in Alpharetta. With help from Alpharetta police, North Fulton SWAT, and the suspect’s father, negotiators persuaded him to surrender peacefully. Officials have not yet released details about the charges or alleged crime.

Mall store reports theft of $700-worth of boots (appenmedia.com) — Alpharetta police are investigating a shoplifting case after a woman reportedly stole seven pairs of Ugg boots, worth about $700 total, from a North Point Mall department store. Security footage captured the suspect, described by loss-prevention staff, loading the boots into bags in a shopping cart before leaving. The case is classified as felony theft by shoplifting.
