Alpharetta Veteran Takes Flight Again Thanks to Delta and The Mansions at Alpharetta
U.S. Air Force Colonel John Mack relives his flying days in a Delta flight simulator during a special Veterans Day tribute
Not many people get to relive their days in the cockpit, but for one Alpharetta veteran, Veterans Day brought that dream to life.
Colonel John Mack, U.S. Air Force (Ret.), a resident of The Mansions at Alpharetta, took to the skies once again through Delta Air Lines’ advanced flight simulator in a special experience honoring his decades of military service and lifelong passion for aviation.
Mack, 81, was born and raised in Columbia, South Carolina, and graduated from The Citadel, the historic Military College of South Carolina. Over his 30-year career in the U.S. Air Force, he piloted B-52 bombers and other aircraft during the Vietnam War, earning more than 20 distinguished honors, including the Congressional Medal of Honor and the Meritorious Service Award.
