Eagles Race at Early Bird Invitational

Milton takes on 30+ schools in largest meet of the season

Whitesburg, GA

The Milton Eagle cross country teams traveled to southeastern Carroll County this past Saturday to test their fitness in their first large invitational meet of the season.

Missing many of their top scorers, Milton (20th-473 pts) only bested 9 schools as West Forsyth (1st-120 pts) was the easy winner. Once again, the Eagles were led by junior Will Chambers (7th-15:53) whose top-10 finish was a personal best. Milton’s scorers included fellow junior Logan Bradway, (87th-17:50) in a near personal best, junior Jace Kasteler (126th-18:29), freshman Noah Jenkins (143rd-18:43) & junior Tyler Nix (145th-18:45). Jenkins performance was a personal best.

The Lady Eagles held on to a top-10 finish despite missing some top-runners due to SAT testing. Milton (7th-216 pts) dispatched 19 teams with Dunwoody (1st-123 pts) pulling off an upset over defending state champions Pace Academy (2nd-170 pts). Senior captain Caroline Spain (16th-20:16) ran in the top-10 until late in the race with sophomore Sadie Katekovich (18th-20:22). The remaining Lady Eagles that factored in the scoring were sophomore Kenley Sirras (54th-21:45), freshman Sloan Robers (56th-21:51) & junior Ava Kane (83rd-22:31). Robers ran to personal best performance.

JV Boys

The Eagles pushed back 19 teams as Milton (10th-332 pts) finished in the top-third of the team standings.

Sophomore Leo Faught (57th-19:53) & senior Braxton Herndon (64th-20:00) led the Eagle contingent.

JV Girls

Milton (5th-178 pts) took down 14 teams in this early-season test. Junior Medhya Sivaganesh (36th-24:30) was first in for the Lady Eagles & got team scoring support from fellow junior Kennedy Manning (39th-24:32) & senior Abby Briggs (41st-24:38).

Open Boys

Led by freshman Hudson Nix (15th-11:46), the Eagles beat out 3 teams while running the 1.5 mile course. Milton (3rd-79 pts) beat out LaGrange, Berkmar & Meadowcreek.

Open Girls

The Lady Eagles had their best team finish of the day with Milton (1st-81 pts) outdistancing 11 teams to take the race win! Running her first ever race in the Eagles uniform, freshman Jasmine Williams (4th-12:11) stayed in the top-5 the entire 1.5 mile race distance.

The Milton cross country teams next host 30 schools at the 12th Milton Invitational on Saturday, September 6th on the Eagles famously difficult home course.
