Fast Times Pace Eagle Effort

All-Time Record Performances Highlight Milton Cross Country Teams

The Eagle cross country teams of Milton travelled to south Fulton County to participate in the largest & most competitive meet of the season, the Alexander/ASICS Invitational, and came away with 4 all-time top 11 school record performances.

Varsity Boys
Milton (12th-470 pts) took down 34 teams while racing schools from Florida, Alabama, Tennessee, North & South Carolina and top-programs from Georgia. The highlight of the race for the Eagles was the racing of the top 3 finishers with junior Will Chambers (25th-15:22) & senior captains Everett Lawder (43rd-15:42) and Jayin Batra (45th-15:43) becoming the 3rd, 10th & 11th all-time best performers in school history! The entire varsity squad ran their all-time best individual performance as senior captain Veer Upadhyaya (198th-16:46), freshman Noah Jenkins (254th-17:19), juniors Boston VanBelle (303rd-17:38) & Tyler Nix (306th-17:39) and concluding with senior Malin Schadt (331st-17:51) all got personal records. There were 375 finishers.

Varsity Girls
The Lady Eagles got to race all the top-ranked teams in the 5A class along with many out of state programs and held their own with a top 20 team finish. Milton (17th-476 pts) outdistanced 25 teams and ran to one of their fastest team averages in school history. Senior captain Caroline Spain (39th-18:39) ran to a 29-second best performance that makes her now the 5th best performer in school history! With 4 finishers breaking 20 minutes, the Lady Eagles showed they are running their best as they approach the sectional/regional & state meets. Following Spain, sophomore Sadie Katekovich (82nd-19:15), freshman Sloane Robers (124th-19:40) & junior Lucie Gallagher (127th-19:42) followed in personal best times and pushed Milton past many programs. Also running varsity were junior Ava Kane (182nd-20:22), sophomore Kenley Sirras (264th-21:14) & junior Cara Tenhundfeld (274th-21:19) with Kane & Tenhundfeld notching impressive personal bests. The race had 345 finishers.

JV Boys
In the best team finish of the day, Milton (8th-327 pts) beat 27 schools, having only one finisher in the top-40 overall positions. Junior Logan Bradway (32nd-17:31) led the Eagles with a personal best & along with sophomores Eli Longstreth (50th-17:42) & Leo Faught (94th-18:07), junior Christopher Chen (98th-18:10) & senior Jonathan Lynch (114th-18:19), all scored for Milton’s best team finish of the meet while running personal best performances. 637 finishers were recorded.

JV Girls
In a race that had over 500 finishers, Milton (14th-440 pts) placed all their scorers in the top 100 scoring positions to dispatch 17 schools. Junior Rachela Weitzel (58th-21:44) led the Lady Eagles as she was followed by freshman Jasmine Williams (104th-22:20), junior Claire Falor (114th-22:32), sophomore Libby Carnegie (119th-22:41) & junior Emily Chambliss (120th-22:41). All the Milton scorers ran to personal best performances!

The Milton cross country teams next see action this Friday night, at Roper Park in Jasper, GA, at the Pickens & Grinnin’ Invitational before going on fall break. The GHSA Region/Sectional championship meet (11/1) & the GHSA 5A State Championship meet (11/7) follow & will conclude the season for the Eagles.
