🌱 Fetch Park Opening This Friday + Delays In Milton This Week

Here are the top five stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. A boozy dog park with locations in the metro Atlanta area, Fetch Park, is set to open a new location in Alpharetta this Friday! The park is described as an “off-leash dog park bar and social hub” concept. This will be Fetch Park's fourth location and will be located at 11440 Maxwell Road, up the street from Ameris Bank Amphitheater. The grand opening will start at 6 p.m. this Friday (Jun. 24).   2. The City of Milton announced drivers should expect delays Thursday and Friday along Hopewell Road between Bethany Bend and Bethany Way. This is a necessary measure to continue to make progress on the ongoing important transportation improvement project there. Hopewell Road will be down to one lane during daytime hours. Drivers are encouraged to find alternate routes such as Hopewell to Cogburn Road to Bethany Bend. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  3. Alpharetta held its first community-wide Juneteenth celebration this past Sunday, Jun. 19 to commemorate the full emancipation of Black Americans from slavery on Jun. 19, 1865. The celebration was held at Brooke Street Park outside City Hall in conjunction with St. James United Methodist Church. There was storytelling, song, and dance honoring Black culture throughout the evening. Check out the Black artists who showcased their work throughout the celebration at the link.   4. The housing market can seem a little scary lately. Have no fear, Patch and Redfin have teamed up to bring you the latest real estate round-up in the Alpharetta-Milton area.   5. Schweitzer-Mauduit International, Inc. and Neenah, Inc., both headquartered in Alpharetta, announced the name of their newly combined company: Mativ, Inc. Both companies are described as "leading global manufacturers of specialty materials". Each company's shareholders are expected to vote on the transaction next week, Jun. 29 and is expected to close around Jul. 1. "We are on track with regulatory clearance approvals, our pre-integration teams are in place, and we have a clear path to over $65 million in synergies," said Julie Schertell, President and CEO of Neenah and named President and CEO of Mativ upon close.
