Here are the top stories in Alpharetta-Milton today:

  1. Last weekend, a barn fire killed 26 horses in nearby Forsyth County. The Milton Fire Department can help prevent fires of this type by conducting free barn safety examinations. They will point out any hazards that could cause a fire. If you're interested in learning more about the Barn Safety and Evaluation Program, contact call 678-242-2546 or e-mail Fire.Marshal@miltonga.gov. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  2. More road closures in Milton are coming up due to the application of a HA5 Pavement Preservation Treatment to extend the life of roads. Weather permitting, the closures start this week on several roads within subdivisions. The affected subdivisions this week are Wyndham Farms, Canterbury on the Lake and Pleasant Hollow Trail. Click on this link for a list of the specific streets that will be impacted. (City of Milton, Georgia - Government via Facebook)
  3. A Milton woman was scammed out of more than $15,000 by imposters posing as Alpharetta Police. The scammers contacted her and asked for payments for open warrants and other items that required bond. She made several payments after being told that she couldn't get documentation “because the judge's chambers were closing.” Alpharetta Police are investigating this matter. (Appen Media)
  4. A Roswell woman found out that her bank account had been used fraudulently when her debit card was declined. The suspect had allegedly contacted her bank, reported her debit card as missing and got a new one. Then, someone took over $20,000 from her account by making withdrawals in both Dunwoody and Sandy Springs. In addition, purchases were made for more than a total of $2,000. (Appen Media)
