- Today, Jun. 20, Milton City Council will vote on acquiring about seven acres for an active park in southeastern Milton, among a host of other matters. Also on the agenda will be an agreement for a new restroom facility in Providence Park, the appointment of members to the City’s Trails Advisory Committee, and changes to the City’s approach to “special event” permitting. The public is invited to attend the meeting at 6:00 p.m. in City Hall’s Council Chambers at 2006 Heritage Walk or watch virtually. (Milton)
- The Alpharetta Police Department is the first in the country to use new police smart cards. Local officers have been using these cards for the last couple of months, which allow users to get an officer's contact information and confirm their identity with just a few clicks. The smart cards also allow users to click on surveys to leave positive feedback or negative — the good ones can get sent that day to the officer to help boost morale, while complaints all go directly to their supervisor. (WSB Atlanta)
- In early July, members from the Alpharetta Department of Public Safety will travel to Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey to host its first out-of-state recruitment event for police officers. This initiative was proposed earlier this year by an internal agency focus group and aims to improve recruiting efforts by expanding beyond the metro Atlanta area.

This event will offer local parents an opportunity to register new students and provide residency verification documents for kindergartners and rising first, sixth, and ninth graders. To decrease long registration lines at the following day's First Day Fulton event and on the first day of school, parents are encouraged to complete registration for new or transferring students on Residency and Registration Day.
