Here are the top five stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:

  1. The City of Alpharetta's Planning Commission will consider the latest redevelopment proposal for North Point Mall on Thursday. The proposal includes the demolition of the existing structure. The new structure will create 315,700 square feet of new retail space, 120,000 square feet of office space, 36 townhomes, 150 hotel rooms, 900 rental units, and 18 acres of open space.   2. Alpharetta's Shamurad Umarov has announced that he will be making his college selection on Friday. The offensive tackle is a four-star recruit at 6-foot-6.5 and 337 pounds. He is expected to choose between Tennessee, Georgia, Michigan State, and LSU. He has toured all four schools. He is ranked 203 nationally overall and ranked 19 nationally as an offensive tackle.   4. The City of Milton's website has a new URL. The change went into effect last week. The city's website is now www.miltonga.gov. The old website's URL will automatically redirect users to the new site. The URL change is part of a broader shift that included city employees' emails switching domains. The city reports that more changes will be occurring behind the scenes. (City of Milton)
  5. A brand of Vidalia onions sold at Fulton County Publix stores has been recalled. The Vidalia onions are under the label A&M Farm and were sold between Jun. 22 and Jun. 24. The onions have been recalled over concerns that they are possibly contaminated with Listeria. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
