Here are the top five stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- An attorney for the secretary of state's office announced yesterday, Aug. 22, that the performance review of Fulton's elections management will not be finished before the 2022 midterms. The State Election Board can consider installing an interim superintendent after the elections. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
- The Voter Education Outreach team will visit Alpharetta again on Aug. 27 and Sep. 10. Those who attend the event will be able to sign up to become poll workers, register to vote, and learn more about the elections process. (Fulton County Gov)
- Atlanta police showed an image of a woman believed to be the suspect in a shooting yesterday in nearby Atlanta, in the 1200 block of West Peachtree Street and the 1100 block of Peachtree Street that left one person dead and two injured. According to police, the suspect was found at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and as of 4:15 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 22, the woman is in custody. (Georgia Patch)
- Alpharetta is now "a model for contemporary urban redevelopment widely studied by other municipalities," according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution writer Adrianne Murchiso. In less than ten years, the city has redeveloped multiple live, work, shop, and play districts. Roswell, Dunwoody, Cary, Huntersville, and Franklin are some of the cities drawing inspiration from Alpharetta. (Planetizen)
