Recycle Christmas Trees On Jan. 5 In Alpharetta, Milton

The cities will host their respective events to allow residents to dispose of their Christmas trees.

ALPHARETTA-MILTON, GA — If you've kicked off 2019 with your Christmas tree still taking up space in your living quarters, the cities of Alpharetta and Milton will provide you with an opportunity to (finally) dispose of this item.

Both cities are taking part in the statewide Bring One for the Chipper campaign. Alpharetta's event is set for 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at The Home Depot at 5300 Windward Parkway. Please make sure your trees are free of decorations before bringing them to the drop-off point.

For Milton residents, you can visit Milton High School from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Jan. 5 to drop off your beloved tree. The recycling event will be held in the parking lot closest to Freemanville Road.

To request mulch, visit the city's website to fill out the form. Alpharetta also said Ferry Morse Seed Company has provided garden seed that will be available in exchange for your tree while supplies last.

If you can't make Milton's Jan. 5, event, there are two additional locations that are partnering with the city to take your trees:

  • Dec. 26 - Jan. 5 (closed Jan. 1): Scottsdale Farms Garden Center at 15639 Birmingham Highway in Milton.
  • Dec. 27 - Jan. 18 (closed Jan. 1): Green Brothers Earth Works at 3445 Francis Road in Alpharetta (located just across the Forsyth County line)

Bring One for the Chipper is a statewide effort to reuse Christmas trees. Since its inception, the program has recycled an estimated 6 million Christmas trees. The mulch from these trees has been used for playgrounds, local government beautification projects and individual yards.

Keep Georgia Beautiful works with several sponsors to organize the event at various locations around the state. You can view other Bring One for the Chipper sites by clicking here.
