🌱 Sam's Club Gift Card Scam + YARDZ Graduates From Innovation Center

Here are the top five stories today in Alpharetta-Milton:
- Two men have stolen over $4,000 worth of Sam's Club gift cards. On Jun. 9, the two unidentified men allegedly used a scam at the Sam's Club on Davis Drive where they had the cashier and manager activate eight $500 gift cards and when it came time for payment, came up short on cash. Once told, they allegedly gave back unactivated gift cards while they had slipped the activated gift cards into their pockets. Police were unable to confirm the member information given to them but Sam's Club and the suspects are still at large. (Alpharetta-Roswell Herald)
- A nonprofit, Tech Alpharetta, recently announced that YARDZ graduated from its Innovation Center. “Tech Alpharetta provided us with so much valuable support, from introductions and connections to mentoring and resources, along with a welcoming community of tech entrepreneurs,” YARDZ tweeted. YARDZ, a construction asset tracking platform, is now the 20th graduate of Tech Alpharetta’s startup incubator. (BUSINESS WIRE)
- Several agencies are searching for a man who hit a pole in downtown Atlanta and sped away driving "erratically." Fulton County deputies reported the man almost hit a pedestrian as he was driving, then got out of his car with a handgun and tried to run into a federal building then was last seen running towards Woodruff Park. As of Monday afternoon, the Atlanta Police Department and the Fulton County Marshal’s Office are still searching for the man who is described as Black in his late 20s or 30s and wearing a red shirt and tan shorts. - Sheriff Patrik Labat is speaking out about the violence currently occurring inside the Fulton County Jail. The families of inmates are claiming that their loved ones inside the jail are being intimidated to provide cash to violent detainees or face assault. "There is a thorough investigation currently in progress to gather the facts surrounding these allegations, and we are taking additional steps to protect all in our care," said Sheriff Labat. "We are confident that the perpetrators of these crimes will not be able to continue this practice and will face the consequences." (Fox 5 Atlanta)
