Tell Representative McCormick to Support the Bipartisan ASAP Act

Dear Representative McCormick,

As a constituent in Georgia's 7th Congressional District, I would like to bring awareness to
the recently introduced H.R. 6130 for the Alzheimer’s Screening and Prevention (ASAP) Act. This legislation aims to leverage recent advances in diagnostics to promote earlier detection of Alzheimer’s disease.

Currently, there are 188,300 Georgia residents, aged 65 or older, living with Alzheimer’s Disease. This accounts for 12% of Georgians in the 65+ age demographic.

As a former caregiver, I understand what type of impact early detection could have had on my mother's journey. She had a younger onset of Alzheimer's, and if we'd known even earlier, we could have gotten treatment and had her with us for longer.

Thankfully, Representative McCormick can play an essential role in accelerating and improving early detection for Alzheimer’s across the country. The bipartisan ASAP Act, H.R. 6130, would give the Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) the authority to approve Medicare coverage of blood test screenings for dementia if the Secretary determines such coverage is warranted. H.R. 6130 would allow for quicker coverage, while ensuring the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services can continue to use an evidence-based process to determine the parameters of Medicare coverage.
