Athens Man Allegedly Caught Driving Stolen Moped Arrested
Police say they learned the moped was stolen out of South Carolina after stopping the unlicensed driver for a traffic violation. An arrest doesn't mean a conviction.

An Athens man is facing a felony theft charge after police say they caught him driving a stolen moped Monday night.
An officer says the 30-year-old failed to stop for a stop sign at College Avenue and Cleveland Avenue around 11 p.m., according to a news release.Β
The officer learned the driver did not have a license and a check of the moped's identification number revealed the it had been reported stolen in South Carolina, the release stated.

Joshua Matthew Curry was charged with felony theft by receiving stolen property, driving without a valid license, and a stop sign violation.Β He was released on a $6,000 bond, according to jail records.

- A woman reported the theft of her 1990 Honda Accord, which had broken down at an Atlanta Highway location around 1 a.m. on Feb. 2. When she returned around 1 p.m. on Feb. 4, the car was missing. She checked with management at the stores and no one had had it towed. The vehicle is beige with Georgia tag PMA7787 and is valued at $3,000.Β
- A Coleridge Court residence was burglarized sometime between 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 1 and 8 p.m. on Feb. 4. A printer, lap top, video game controller, and cash with a total value of $330 were stolen.
