Jackson Woman Reports Robbery at Gunpoint in Athens, Ga.

A woman reported to Athens-Clarke County Police on Monday that while she was sitting in her car, which was parked at a convenience store on Commerce Road, a man robbed her at gunpoint.

According to a news release, the woman had just taken some medication around 5 p.m. when a man known to her approached and asked if she was going to give or sell him some of the medication.

The woman told the man no and he walked away, the release states. He then went to a truck, returned to her car and pointed a gun at her, she told police. 

The robber grabbed a purse with the medications inside and fled in a beige or light brown truck, last seen headed north on Commerce Road, according to the release.

The investigation is ongoing.
