• Facebook Marketplace sale in Athens goes bad when gun displayed (onlineathens.com) — Two women from Gwinnett County were robbed during a Facebook Marketplace meetup on an east Athens residential street, where the buyer showed a handgun and left with a PlayStation 5. Athens-Clarke police are urging residents to use the designated safe exchange area at the Lexington Road police department for online sales or custody swaps, and to treat refusals to meet there as a red flag.
   

• ACC Planning denies rezoning plan for UGA President's House (wuga.org) — Athens-Clarke County’s Planning Commission has rejected a rezoning request that would have allowed a downsized hotel at the historic UGA President’s House, keeping the property in government zoning for now. Supporters argued Athens needs more hotel rooms, but most attendees urged denial, citing staff recommendations and concerns about the project’s impact.
   

• Watkinsville teen's wild ride through Athens (classiccitynews.com) — Police say a 17-year-old from Watkinsville led officers on a dangerous late-night chase starting in downtown Athens and ending on the lawn of a UGA sorority house. Officers report finding open containers, fake IDs, and dozens of THC vape pens before arresting the teen on multiple charges.
