Out of Towners En Route? 8 Attractions In Atlanta Area For Their Most Enjoyable Visit

These are the most fun places in Atlanta to bring a guest who hails from out of town. While some may seem obvious, most are underrated.

ATLANTA, GA — The visitors are coming, the visitors are coming!

When out of towners come to visit, deciding which activities, things to do or attractions to show them can be daunting. After all, living anywhere makes everything seem normal to the point that you might not be sure what is actually exciting to someone from out of town.

Well, Atlanta actually has more than you probably think to share with visitors. Here are a couple facts about Atlanta to brag about with your visitors.

According to the USA Today, the Atlanta Zoo is one of only four zoos in the United States that has pandas. Nearly all pandas are owned by China and "rented" to zoos, so Atlanta was chosen to be one of the few with the giant black and white bears.

If that is not impressive enough, tell your visitors that Atlanta has a way to save money on their attractions and activities. The Official Atlanta CityPass can save your guests 44 percent at five of Atlanta's top attractions. Admission to all five locations is included in the purchase of the pass.

Now that you are armed with facts to impress your guests, here is our list of the eight best things in the Atlanta area to share with visiting out of towners.

  1. World of Coca-Cola. This is the quintessential attraction in the city, because it doesn't get more Atlanta than Coke. There's so much to do at the World of Coca-Cola that your guests will be thrilled to see the vault, the old ads, the polar bear, the flavors from other countries and more. But no matter how many times you go, there is a new exhibit, and tasting the drinks from around the world will always be fun.
  2. The College Football Hall of Fame. The hall includes an indoor football field and more than 50 interactive exhibits. It is a self- described "shrine to the greatest to ever play or coach the game."
  3. Ponce City Market. This isn't strictly a tourist attraction, but it is one of Atlanta's most interesting places. The building has it all: retail, restaurants, residences, office space, a rooftop amusement park, frequent exciting events and a rooftop restaurant and bar (plus more probably!)
  4. Zoo Atlanta has the pandas (see above). Also, frequent art exhibits and collaborations.
  5. National Center for Civil and Human Rights. Not a happy, laughing experience but a powerful place to visit. The center is "a museum and cultural institution that connects the U.S. Civil Rights Movement to human rights challenges today." Features permanent and temporary exhibits.
  6. Martin Luther King Jr. National Historical Park. This park has many components, including the home where Martin Luther King Jr. was born and the Ebenezer Baptist Church, where he preached.
  7. SkyView Atlanta. What better way for guests to see the entire metropolitan area than from 20 stories above Centennial Park on the SkyView Ferris wheel in a climate-controlled gondola?
  8. Stone Mountain Park. There's much to do here, but the attractions for the whole family are what stand out to show guests. Options include a scenic railroad, a mini golf course, suspended rope bridges over a geyser, a dinosaur adventure and learning experience, a cable car that travels to the top of the mountain, a suspended wooden bridge family adventure course, a collection of original buildings, which have all been moved to this location from around the state, and more. No matter who you have coming to visit, they will enjoy an attraction here.
