$850 A Month In Guaranteed Income For Black Women In Poverty Part Of 2022 Atlanta Pilot

The "In Her Hands" initiative promises to give guaranteed income to impoverished Black women in Atlanta's Old Fourth Ward for two years.

ATLANTA, GA – Some Black women living in poverty in Atlanta will soon have financial help from a new initiative looking to level the playing field for women of color.

The project called “In Her Hands” will give 600 low-income Black women living in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward a monthly $850 over the course of two years as part of a partnership between the Georgia Resilience and Opportunity Fund and Give Directly, CBS46 reports.

The pilot anticipates distributing more than $13 million by its culmination, according to The Root, and seeks to study the impact that guaranteed income has both economically and mentally on recipients.
