Here are the top five stories today in Atlanta:
- According to police, a man died and another was injured following a shooting outside Atlanta's Bankhead neighborhood on Saturday night. Victims were found by officials in the Lindsay Street Baptist Church parking lot. As of Sunday, police have not released any further details about the victims. (The Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Those attending the Atlanta Fair should be aware of new security measures put in place after three teens were shot outside the fair in March. Guests will now have to use clear bags and no backpacks, fanny packs, or laptop bags are permitted. Attendees will also have to walk through metal detectors at the entrance of the fair. - Over the weekend, the Atlanta Braves Foundation raised money through a 50/50 raffle and donated the proceeds to Team Rubicon's hurricane relief efforts. Team Rubicon is run by a group of veterans who help people prepare, respond, and recover from natural disasters. Fans are also encouraged to donate to the nonprofit using this link through Oct. 5. - Beginning on October 21, Harry Potter: The Exhibition will make its debut in Atlanta. The exhibition promises to be an "immersive, behind-the-scenes experience" and will feature content from the films and stories of Harry Potter, Fantastic Beasts, and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. - The International Downtown Association (IDA) recognized the Atlanta Downtown Improvement District with the Downtown Achievement Award of Excellence at its last annual conference. The award was given for the association's commitment to the ATL Downtown Counts: Street Homelessness Survey.
