Atlanta State Rep. Shea Roberts Sworn In, Named To New Committees
State Rep. Shea Roberts, Democrat for House District 52 in Atlanta, was sworn into office Monday. She was also named to several committees.

ATLANTA, GA — State Rep. Shea Roberts, Democratic representative for Atlanta's House District 52, was sworn into office Monday, which was the first day of the 2021-22 legislative session, according to a Thursday news release. District 52 includes portions of Buckhead and Sandy Springs.
Roberts, who beat incumbent Republican candidate Deborah Silcox in the November 2020 general election, is serving her first term as a state representative. Silcox had served as the representative for District 52 since January 2017.
In addition to being sworn in, Roberts will join the Governmental Affairs, Science and Technology, and State Planning & Community Affairs committees, according to the news release.

“I am honored to serve on these important committees, especially the Governmental Affairs Committee, which has jurisdiction over state election law,” Roberts said in the release. “I am passionate about fair and secure elections. Georgia’s record-breaking civic engagement during our recent election cycle brings me such pride, and I look forward to getting to work on this committee to make sure all of our citizens can easily access a secure ballot box and have confidence that their vote is counted.”
