Atlanta's Most Instagrammed Spots of 2016

ATLANTA, GA -- Atlanta is an Instagrammer's paradise. if green spaces are your thing, go no further than Piedmont Park to capture beautiful scenes in real time. Bright lights? Head downtown near Centennial Olympic Park. If you want stark warehouses, go to the city's west side.

The hotel life in downtown Atlanta is pretty great. If you're staying at the Marriott on Peachtree Center Avenue or Sheraton on Courtland, it's a short walk to the much more bustling environments of the Hyatt Regency on Peachtree. One look at the cavernous lobby and you'll see why thousands of people pull out their cameras and snap away.

• Turner Field Braves Games

The Atlanta landmark used to be home to the beloved Atlanta Braves, which had their heyday from 1991 to 2005, when they won 14 straight division championships and one World Series title. With the 2016 season being its last before it's reportedly torn down, a surge in Instagrammed photos from Turner Field makes a lot of sense.

With a potpourri of cool boutiques sprouting up and an ever-changing face-lift for much of the area's infrastructure, Midtown Atlanta is a prime spot to snap a few pics. What's not to love? Ponce City Market has cemented its spot as a must-visit spot along Ponce while on the other end, the Beltline and the buzz around it continues to rekindle intown love for the city.

OK, there are several music festivals around the city, but the granddaddy of them all is Music Midtown. It's not only a place to enjoy cool music and the thunderous roar from concert-goers, but the stage and crowd is a who's who in Atlanta civic life. Don't be surprised to see celebrities standing in the crowd.

The club known for local music acts and hookah is an Instagram fave. Foodies would appreciate club-goers' uncanny urge to take photos of their cocktails -- or their nails.

• Terminal West

Few venues offer you the immediacy and intimacy that Terminal West gives you when you catch a live show. If you're a photographer, there's no better opportunity than this to walk right up to the stage and capture the music in real time.

• Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport-Delta Airlines

The world's busiest airport has long catered to visual artists since the 1996 Olympics when it commissioned the creation of a bunch of murals celebrating the city. Thing is, photographers have continued taking photos as the airport's numerous exhibits and unique features make it a top spot for Instagrammers.

Located in one of the most bucolic areas of Buckhead, Chastain Park is the city's top concert destination when it comes to outside venues. Because it is a true amphitheatre, people with smartphones can easily take pictures without obscuring the view of the person behind them.

The Crescent Avenue nightspot is a favorite of celebrities, so it's no wonder that club-goers are quick to whip out a phone to take a picture. The thing it, Opera's not even the only club on the block so if you have your camera, you could see Shaquille O'Neal partying at Opera and former Atlanta Hawk Dikembe Mutombo enjoying drinks one block down the way at Front Page News. I'd call that a block party.

Compound is known as a rapper's playground. It's nothing to see the likes of Rick Ross, Drake or Diddy brushing elbows with some of Atlanta's movers and shakers. But it's also a place that regular people can have a good time, with or without the camera.

Bottom line: Atlanta has several places to take high-quality pics for Instagram. Whether it's light or dark outside, the city's live-work-play mentality when it comes to redevelopment turns old, decrepit buildings into charming landmarks. Add a filter and you've got insta-gold.
