  1. Sheriff Pat Labat and District Attorney Fani Willis have recently proposed a new initiative that would allow men to serve a sentence out of custody, using animals. For about a year, the Fulton County jail has been using dogs to help prisoners in rehabilitation. The program was initiated as a way to prevent repeat crimes and has now expanded outside of the jail. The goal of this program is to emphasize that inmates' mistakes do not define their present selves or future. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  2. For the fifth year in a row, the Atlanta Braves have won the National League East championship! They will play again on Oct. 11, against the winner of the Phillies and Cardinals game. After their victory over the Miami Marlins, they are the National League's number 2 seed, just behind the Dodgers. (Atlanta Patch)
  3. Two men have been identified, after Friday's fatal police chase. Broderick Dunn and Amarion Clotter were killed in the chase that took place along the city's I-75 to Interstate 20. The two men were ejected from their Jeep, where they died at the scene. It was also reported that there was a weapon found at the scene of the incident. (Atlanta Patch)
  4. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta is overwhelmed with a recent surge in viral infections, including COVID-19 and the flu. Beds are filling up as these infections spread among the city's children. After getting sick with RSV and pneumonia, a young girl's family was told that beds were full at several different hospitals, and they had to wait until a bed opened up in the ICU. Children's Healthcare of Atlanta reminds parents to get their kids vaccinated for these types of illnesses. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  5. Yesterday morning, Gwinnett County commuters were stuck on Interstate 85, due to lane closures from a multiple tractor-trailer crash. There were several lane closures and drivers were advised to take alternate routes and avoid the area. Even after the lanes re-opened, there was traffic and congestion on the highway.
