Why This is The Most Expensive Peach Bowl Ever

ATLANTA, GA -- If you're still in the market to buy a ticket for Saturday's Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl there's a few things you should know: The weather in downtown Atlanta is going to be dry and in the mid-40s throughout the day. The traffic is going to be bananas, so take the MARTA train if possible. And finally, ticket prices for the game are the most expensive they've ever been.

This is the priciest Peach Bowl to date, according to Ticket IQ, an event ticket search engine and aggregator.

When the Peach Bowl began in 1968, few fans would have imagined that it'd turn into the college football juggernaut that it has in recent years. Part of the bowl game's success this year is the significance of the College Football Playoffs, which pit the four best teams against each other.

Below are the most expensive college football bowl games from all three years of the College Football Playoffs:

As you can see, the Peach Bowl is not the most expensive football game of all time, but as Peach Bowls go, Saturday's matchup in the Georgia Dome is the most expensive of the college playoffs era.

This year's SEC championship between Alabama and Florida, averaged $466, according to Ticket IQ. Go figure.

The Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl features the Alabama Crimson Tide vs the Washington Huskies at teh Georgia Dome on Saturday at 3 p.m. ET.
