Chuy's at Akers Mill Is Officially Open

South Cobb eatery brings Tex-Mex cuisine to Cumberland area.

SMRYNA, GA -- Tex-Mex eatery Chuy’s in Cumberland opened its doors Tuesday, Patch has learned.

The Akers Mill Square store held a grand opening with featured a ribbon-cutting ceremony and an eager crowd. The Akers Mill location is the third Chuy’s in Georgia.

To serve the South Cobb area, the restaurant, known for it "Fully-Loaded Nacho Car," went on a hiring binge at the first of the year. The eatery joins a slew of new restaurants along the Cumberland corridor a short drive away from the new Atlanta Braves ballpark.

“We are so excited to open this location because Atlantans love their Tex-Mex, and we wanted to bring our fun and fresh cuisine to the city for everyone to enjoy,” owner-operator Bryan Turner said in a statement. “We’re here to provide an exceptional dining experience that will bring together friends and families in the Cumberland community.”

Other locations in the metro area include a Chuy's in Kennesaw and one in Dunwoody near Perimeter Mall. The restaurant chain began in Austin, Texas in 1982.
