Here are the top five stories today in Atlanta:

  1. A woman was arrested last night after speeding on Piedmont Road at Lindbergh Drive where she then hit a police cruiser. Two officers were taken to Grady Hospital with minor injuries. The driver was arrested. (CBS 46 News)
  2. More graffiti appeared last night – for the second day in a row – at the Midtown Rainbow crosswalk. Police are asking the public for their help in identifying the man they caught on camera who is suspected to have spray painted a black swastika on the crosswalk. Similar hate symbols were also found at the Federal Reserve Building. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
  3. More mosquitoes positive with West Nile virus have been found in Fulton County. Grove Park and Spring Valley Park are the newest locations joining the list of Washington Park, Newtown Park, and Grant Park. The city plans on spraying insecticides at the two recently-identified parks this week. (WRDW)
  4. A Tallahassee abortion clinic has reported seeing an increase of almost 40% of women coming to the clinic from states like Georgia where abortions are performed up to six weeks as opposed to Florida's 15-week rule. The clinic believes Georgia's heartbeat law that recently went into affect is the cause of the increase in Georgia women seeking out of state abortions. (WSB Atlanta)
  5. The Subway eatery on Northside Drive is expected to reopen in a few weeks. The location closed in June after a customer shot two employees for putting too much mayonnaise on their sandwich – ultimately killing one of the employees. The co-owner of the shop says they have opted for walk-up windows for ordering and food pick-up to keep their employees safe. (WSB Atlanta)
