Fulton Chairman John Eaves Enters Atlanta Mayoral Race
"I felt the city needed someone of my caliber," he tells newspaper.
ATLANTA, GA -- Fulton County Commission Chairman John Eaves has entered Atlanta's mayoral race, according to news reports.
Eaves, who has been a member of the commission for more than a decade, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution that his experience will help him lead the city.
“I felt the city needed someone of my caliber,” he reportedly said. “The city of Atlanta deserves transparency, and I want to set the tone.”

The race to replace Mayor Kasim Reed includes State Sen. Vincent Fort, Cathy Woolard, former president of the Atlanta City Council, Atlanta City Council President Ceasar Mitchell, council members Kwanza Hall, Keisha Lance Bottoms, Mary Norwood, former Atlanta COO Peter Aman and former Atlanta Workforce Development Agency director Michael Sterling.
Eaves graduated from Morehouse College in 1984 and earned a master's degree from Yale University.
