PEACHTREE CITY, GA — Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday. It should be a dry weekend for most of us, but there is still a chance for thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

The big weather story this weekend is dangerous temperatures in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, but we should stay slightly cooler in Georgia.

Temperatures will be around the average of 90 degrees for most of the weekend. But the heat index, or "feels like" temperature, will reach to the mid 90s.

Next week will start off just as warm, but temperatures will cool into the 80s for most of the week, according to AccuWeather.

Friday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 15 mph.

Saturday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 2pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Sunday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 90. South wind 5 to 10 mph.

Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 91.
