10 Movies & TV Shows Filming Around Atlanta Right Now
Metro area is becoming a movie mecca, with several productions in the works for 2017.

ATLANTA, GA -- Metro Atlanta has several films and TV shows in production. And we're not just talking independent projects. The major Hollywood studios, along with CBS and other networks, have hired local talent and crew to put together high-end productions.
Movies about worlds ending, domestic terrorism and a group of women trying to just get along are all being shot in and around Atlanta this year. Big-name actors are on deck, too. Don't be surprised if you see Kevin Spacey or 50 Cent out and about in the city.
According to Projectcasting.com, 34 movies were being filmed in Georgia as a whole. The lion's share of them are being done in metro Atlanta. Here are a few of them:

"Avengers: Infinity War"
The sequel to "The Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is shooting in metro Atlanta. Central Casting is hiring background actors, stand-ins, photo doubles and featured roles for the upcoming film. Shooting will be done April 5 & May 30 in Fayetteville.

"Den of Thieves"
If you're a fan of "Power" and "Get Rich or Die Tryin'" by 50 Cent, the rapper-turned-movie mogul TV is back with another gritty film. "Den of Thieves" is a feature film starring the rapper and Gerard Butler. The movie will center on a bank heist that goes awry for one of the criminals. Shooting is slated to begin in January 2017 in Atlanta.
"Pitch Perfect 3"
The film "Pitch Perfect 3" follows the other two films in the hugely successful franchise. The third installment of the musical comedy will star Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson & Miley Cyrus. The film is currently casting stand-ins. Shooting will begin January 30 in Atlanta.
"Black Panther"
The Marvel Studios feature film "Black Panther" will star Chadwick Boseman, Michael B. Jordan & Lupita Nyong'o in the "Avengers" spinoff project. The movie will focus on T'Challa, the ruler of the kingdom of Wakanda and his efforts to defend the country from its adversaries. Shooting starts in January.

"Hangman"
The film features a who's who of Hollywood elite, including Anthony Hopkins, Al Pacino and Julia Stiles. It's about an ambitious young attorney who goes after a big pharmaceutical company only to find himself lured into a murder case in which he is the prime suspect. The film held several auditions in December and is still casting for several scenes.
"I, Tonya"
The feature film "I, Tonya" is about the rise of competitive skater Tonya Harding and her dramatic fall. Margot Robbie and Sebastian Stan will star in the project. Shooting is slated to take place from January to March 2017.
"Sleepy Hollow"
The Fox TV series is back again as Ichabod Crane is brought to life again to solve crimes that span more than 200 years. The series stars Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison. Shooting will begin Jan. 5 & 11 in Conyers.
"Star"
The Fox TV series from "Empire" impresario Lee Daniels stars Queen Latifah & Benjamin Bratt. The project is about three young talents trying to navigate the rough and tumble world of entertainment. Shooting will commence on Jan. 11 in Atlanta.
"MacGuyver"
This project is a reboot of the popular 1980s show and stars Lucas Till and George Eads. Shooting will be done Jan. 5-6 & 10-12. Project description from Backstage.com: "A reimagining of the classic series, is an action-adventure drama about 20-something Angus 'Mac' MacGyver who creates a clandestine organization within the U.S. government where he uses his extraordinary talent for unconventional problem solving and vast scientific knowledge to save lives." It airs on CBS.
"Manifesto"
Actor Kevin Spacey will executive produce this scripted TV series in and around Atlanta about the hunt for "Unabomber," domestic terrorist Ted Kaczynski. Shooting for the TV mini series starts in January. It will be on the Discovery Channel.
