  1. A 15-year-old student at Kipp Collegiate Academy is being recognized in an honors program for future physicians. Simone Corbin, a 10th grader in northwest Atlanta, was inspired by the disparity between mortality rates for white mothers and black mothers to pursue a career in medicine.   2. Atlanta police are seeking help in identifying a man involved in a fatal shooting last week. According to authorities, officers responded at the scene around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday in the area of Gordon Terrace and Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. Police have released surveillance footage of the suspect and need help identifying and locating the man. Anyone with information is asked to contact police. (The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
  3. An Atlanta Police Lieutenant was charged with driving under the influence in Paulding County. According to authorities, Lieutenant Ayana's SUV was found crashed along Macland Road near Mount Tabor Church Road a little after midnight. The Lieutenant was taken by Georgia state troopers to Wellstar Paulding where he agreed to a blood test. Before he could take the test, though, nurses say he fled the hospital and was later discovered at a RaceTrac across the street from the hospital. (WSB-TV)
  4. Mr. Rogers said to always look for the helpers. Second Helpings Atlanta is an organization full of helpers looking to assist food insecure families. The organization has over 360 volunteers that recuse produce, dairy products, and other food items that would otherwise be thrown away and ensure that the food makes it to mouths that need it.   5. Atlanta is one of three finalists in the contest to host the 2024 Democratic National Convention. The city council on Monday met and took steps in preparation of the potentiality, which would bring thousands of tourists and a myriad of Democratic politicos. The steps included securing potential deals with the Atlanta-Fulton Recreation Authority and Marta to finance transportation for the event. ( The Atlanta Journal Constitution)
