More Than 200 Pounds Of Pot Seized At Atlanta Airport

Police are describing the haul as one of the largest ever at one of the world's busiest airports.

ATLANTA -- More than 220 pounds of marijuana was seized over Super Bowl weekend at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. According to police, four men were arrested and charged in the incident after they received a tip that suspected drug traffickers from Las Vegas would be flying in with the pot on Friday, Feb. 1.

“Once the flight landed in Atlanta, officers were able to identify the luggage that was checked by the suspects,” said Officer Lisa Bender, police spokesperson. A total of 224 pounds of pot were confiscated, along with almost $8,000 in cash. Police are describing the haul as one of the largest in recent memory.

The four men were detained as they were leaving the plane and gave their consent for their bags to be searched.
