The National Weather Service on Monday forecasts showers and thunderstorms to arrive ahead of a cold front Tuesday night into Wednesday. The weather service said some of the potentially strong to severe storms could bring damaging wind gusts.

North and central Georgia, including metro Atlanta residents, can anticipate breezes and winds Tuesday through Thursday, the weather service said.

Power outages may persist as storms batter Georgia, and air travel may be impacted.

AccuWeather reported a localized risk for power outages through Tuesday for north Georgia. Then, through Wednesday, power outages could darken localized homes statewide.

But before then, the weather service issued a fire danger statement through Monday evening for the entirety of north and central Georgia due to humidity values that are well below critical thresholds.

Weather officials encourage residents to refer to their local burn permitting authorities for advisement on burning outdoors.
