Queen Latifah's Car Stolen at Georgia Gas Station

Thief jumped into Mercedes at Shell gas station in Fulton County, according to reports. Car was later recovered.

ATLANTA, GA -- Police in Atlanta are searching for three men who may be connected to a car theft involving rapper and actress Queen Latifah.

The celebrity's 2015 Mercedes Benz S63 was stolen from a South Fulton County gas station about 9 p.m. on Dec. 20, according to news reports.

Fortunately, the star was not on the scene -- a Shell gas station on Fulton Industrial Boulevard -- when the incident occurred.

The celebrity's associate, identified in news reports as Keith Sheppard, was driving alone in the star's car when he decided to get some gas. He got out of the vehicle and before he knew it, someone had jumped into the driver's seat and sped off, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As Atlanta police were investigating the incident, they made a startling discovery: The car belonged to Dana Owens, aka Queen Latifah.

Owens has been in Atlanta lately to film "Star," the Lee Daniels-produced Fox TV series about three up-and-coming singers struggling to make it into the music business.

The car was recovered near downtown Atlanta outside an apartment complex on McDaniels Street. A security guard reported seeing three males around the car, according to WAGA.

When Owens was allowed to inspect the vehicle for damage and the loss of personal belongings, she found lemonade and fruit punch bottles in the car.

There was a little damage to a rear rim, the AJC reports.

Police in Atlanta and South Fulton County are reportedly still looking for the suspects.
