Rapper Young Thug Free After Mall Arrest

Artist was apprehended while shopping at Lenox Square, but officers were there for someone else.

ATLANTA, GA -- Rapper Young Thug is free after being arrested Thursday at Lenox Square in connection with an outstanding warrant, according to news reports.

Social media video taken by mall-goers show the rapper, who's birth name is Jefferey Lamar Williams, being taken into custody as shoppers gawk.

Atlanta police descended on the mall after a report about a stolen vehicle in the mall parking lot. Williams was detained because he has an active warrant for failing to appear in court, according to WXIA-TV.

He had $2,500 on him that was reportedly given to him by a family member, the TV station reports.

A video posted on Instagram purportedly shows officers hauling Williams out of the mall amid excited onlookers.

In a since-deleted Instagram post, Williams gloats in a restaurant seemingly in reference to being free after the arrest. “Ay, I got back to the mall before them!” the rapper says on Maxwell's "This Woman's Work" plays in the background. “Bigger than the law.”

Williams is no stranger to run-ins this month.

He famously got into it with two women employees at Hartsfield-Atlanta International Airport a few weeks ago, calling them "peasants" in an Instagram video that got thousands of views.

Days later his mother made him go back and apologize to the women, he said on Instagram.
