Here are the top five stories today in Atlanta:
- An irate customer opened fire in a Dekalb County McDonald's on Wednesday. The suspect engaged in an argument with an employee at the popular burger chain, which rapidly escalated. Eventually, the customer pulled out a gun, which he pointed at the employee. The suspect fired the gun multiple times into the ceiling, then left the location. Police later apprehended him at a friend's home. No one was harmed during the shooting. (WSB Atlanta)

- As Hurricane Ian nears category five strength, Georgia is battening down the hatches. The Georgia Emergency Management and Homeland Security Office has switched to a 24-hour hurricane watch, and are regularly providing updates on Ian as the hurricane makes landfall. The storm is expected to reach Florida on Wednesday, while Georgia and South Carolina will face the brunt of the dangerous weather over the weekend. Georgia officials are working overtime to ensure that all emergency management and operations are primed so they can coordinate response efforts when the storm reaches the state. (FOX 5 Atlanta)
- Atlanta is famous for its music scene, and this weekend looks to have some must-see concerts. Mary J. Blige will be wowing fans at the epic State Farm Arena, while classic rock icons Kansas will spend Friday performing at the Byers Theater.
