Here are the top five stories in Atlanta today:

  1. Atlanta-based tech startup, Pruuven (pronounced "proven"), was accepted into the Black Founder Accelerator program. Founded by Bryan Hobbs and Marcus Shute, the credentialing and data-trust company is only one of five startups to be accepted into the program. Pruuven received $100,000 and access to training and resources to better assist their startup. (Reporter Newspapers)
  2. Street racers and spectators gathered at the northbound lanes at I-75 and I-85 split right after the 17th street bridge last night. The crowd and cars blocked traffic, which was eventually alleviated by police. As of Sunday evening, it was unclear if anyone was hurt or if police had made any arrests regarding this incident. (11Alive.com WXIA)
  3. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting in Atlanta on Aug. 20. Atlanta police officers pursued two men who may have committed a crime at a Texaco gas station that eventually led to one officer firing his weapon at an armed suspect as he was fleeing. The man that was shot was identified as Keyuntae Whitaker, 18, of Jonesboro. (MyFox Chattanooga)
  4. An increase of children with respiratory illnesses coming to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta has caused the hospital to erect a tent outside of the emergency department at Scottish Rite. The hospital released a statement that said, "Children’s does not and will not turn away a patient who comes to our ED [emergency department]. As part of our ongoing management of high volumes at our hospitals, Children’s is postponing some of our non-emergent surgical cases." (11Alive.com WXIA)
  5. The family of Jenna Van Gelderen is still hoping for answers after her disappearance five years ago. On Aug. 19, 2017, Jenna – who is on the autism spectrum – was sitting at her parents' Druid Hills home on Oakdale Road, and was never seen again. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is offering a $50,000 reward in the case but hasn't received any tips or news. (CBS 46 News)
