Watch: 'Person Of Interest' Shoots Inside Home

Atlanta police release footage of a man firing into basement; father of 2 found dead there.

ATLANTA, GA -- Police released a video Thursday of a man firing into the basement apartment of a home in northwest Atlanta.

According to police the man in the video is considered a "person of interest."

Law enforcement officials hope that showing the footage to the public will help them get more information about the crime, which happened in November.

Police previously released some of the video, which showed a man repeatedly ringing the door bell. Now, Thursday's revelation is that the man at the door was a gunman.

The body of Carl Cosby Jr., a father of two, was found in that basement on Nov. 3, when his 9-year-old daughter, who talked to him several times a day, got upset that he wasn’t texting her back or answering her calls.

Cosby stayed with his grandmother on Vanderbilt Court. Neighbors reportedly heard someone ringing her doorbell over and over before gunshots rang out.

“My problem is you came up to the house with bad intentions,” father Carl Cosby Sr. told WSB-TV in November. “You actually rang the doorbell several times, waiting on somebody to open the door. It could have been my mother, but it was my son.”

If anyone recognizes the man in the video, please call police or contact Crime Stoppers Atlanta at 404-577-8477, text information to 274637 or visit crimestoppersatlanta.org.
