Heavy Rains, 45 MPH Wind Gusts Forecast For GA
Parts of Georgia are at a Level 2 risk for severe weather as the Peach State faces fire danger, incoming storms and high winds.
ATLANTA, GA — A wind advisory is in effect for parts of Georgia Tuesday ahead of threatening overnight storms.
The advisory went into effect at 1 p.m. and will last until 7 a.m. Wednesday for north and central Georgia, including metro Atlanta. The National Weather Service reported anticipated south winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mph.
Extreme western Georgia and eastward are at a Level 2 slight risk for severe weather, the weather service reported.

Storms, with the potential to become strong to severe, are expected to continue through Wednesday morning, the weather service said. Isolated damaging winds, hail and "perhaps a tornado or two" are possible hazards with the impending storms.
Metro Atlanta can anticipate the heavy rainfall starting at 10 p.m. Tuesday until 7 a.m. Wednesday, the weather service said in an update on Facebook.

"Due to the timing of potential storms, residents are advised to ensure the alert feature is working on their weather radios tonight," the weather service said in its hazardous weather outlook.
Furthermore, Georgia continues to battle high fire danger conditions due to high winds. The weather service warned of such conditions, starting Tuesday afternoon and into the evening for north and central Georgia.
The Peach State may expect sustained winds of 12-18 mph with gusts of 25-35 mph, the weather service reported. Relative humidity levels may climb above 25 percent.
"With dry fuels, high fire danger conditions can be expected. Please refer to your local burn permitting authorities whether you may burn outdoors. If you do burn outside, use extreme caution," the weather service.
The Georgia Forestry Commission on Monday reported nearly 500 fires had sparked in the past week in Georgia, killing one person and damaging several properties and vehicles.
The commission warned burnt debris is the leading cause for the vast number of fires.
