  1. A fight broke out at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center in Augusta, causing a shank fight between inmates. Nine inmates were arrested, leaving four inmates with stab wounds and three with cuts. According to the Richmond County Sheriff's Department, inmates left their cells at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, and a fight broke out, causing one inmate to pull out a shank and stab another.   2. RISE Augusta received more than 300 books from Bank of America to help children learn to read. The books will be used towards RISE Augusta's free books drives allowing kids from underserved communities to pick free books and utilize their free tutoring services. The goal of the organization is to get kids excited about reading again. (WRDW)
  3. Former Richmond County Democratic Party Chair Dr. Lowell Marvin Greenbaum dies at 94 years old. Greenbaum was an Augusta politics staple, serving as chair for more than 16 years before he died from a stroke in his home. While serving as chair, he hosted former President Bill Clinton, former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi, and former Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams. (The Augusta Chronicle)

  • Georgia Power Co. and State regulatory staff agreed on a plan to boost power bills by 12 percent in June. The increase will cover the higher cost of natural gas and coal the utility uses to power its 2.7 million customers. (The Augusta Press)
