Here are the top three stories today in Augusta:

  1. The Richmond County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting incident that took place at America's Best Value Inn on Dean Bridge Road at 10 p.m. on Saturday, Mar. 25. The male victim was standing on the balcony when someone with a rifle shot him once in the hand. The victim was then taken to the hospital for treatment and there is currently no update on his condition. (WJBF)
  2. Burke County Sgt. Allen Crispin was arrested by Richmond County Deputy Sgt. Ty Hester on a charge of disorderly conduct after an altercation that occurred when Crispin was attending an event at the Augusta Common on Saturday evening. Crispin witnessed an act of physical child abuse and reported it to Hester. However, the two became involved in an argument which resulted in Crispin's arrest. (WRDW)
  3. Augusta-based men's basketball team Georgia Soul won against the Coastal Georgia Buccaneers 115-99 at the H.E.A.L Complex at Paine College. Despite being behind in the first half, the Soul made strategic plays to secure the win with Malik Dunbar leading the scores with 23 points and Eric Eaves following with 19 points. The game's theme was first responders, and firefighter Jay Gibson and EMT Jimmy Kelly were honored by the Georgia Soul at halftime. (WFXG)
