• Health inspection scores for Cobb County restaurants and other food services from December 5 to December 11 (cobbcountycourier.com) — Recent health inspections show several Austell spots, including Riverside Epicenter eateries, Yummy’s Funnel Cakes, Shades Coffee Co., and LongHorn Steakhouse of Austell, all earning strong scores from state inspectors. The full Cobb County list highlights mostly high marks, with a few restaurants elsewhere in the county receiving lower ratings that residents may want to review before dining out.
   

• Man, 57, dies in custody at Cobb County Adult Detention Center (fox5atlanta.com) — A man who’d been arrested along Austell Road later died after being found unresponsive at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, where he had earlier refused hospital treatment during pre-booking. Authorities say paramedics could not revive him, and both an autopsy and a Georgia Bureau of Investigation inquiry are now underway.
