• Georgia lands two players on AP All-American teams (on3.com subscription) — Barnesville native CJ Allen has been named a first-team AP All-American after leading the Georgia Bulldogs in tackles and tackles for loss during their 12-1 SEC championship season. Senior punter Brett Thorson earned second-team honors after winning the Ray Guy Award, and both players will next suit up for Georgia in the Jan. 1 Sugar Bowl.
   

• Carol Pritchett Prescott (barnesville.com) — Barnesville holds a special place in the life story of Carol Pritchett Prescott, who moved here as a child and always considered it home, with family still living locally. The 82-year-old, most recently of Monroe, Georgia, passed away Dec. 14, leaving a legacy of church and community service across several Georgia towns and a large, loving family.
