Another Fatal Shooting Friday Morning In Buckhead

ATLANTA — Another man was shot and killed early Friday morning in Buckhead, not far from where another man had been found shot to death almost a month ago. According to police, the man, only identified as 23, was taken by a friend to Piedmont Hospital, where he later died. Police believe the man was shot near the Bennett Street Shopping Center, where another man who was suspected of trying to burglarize some of the businesses, was found shot to death on June 17.

That man was later identified as Mohamed Akel, 29, who police said was shot by a patron after attempting to break into a business and then crashing his car into a parking deck. The shooter was never charged in the incident.

In October, an innocent bystander was killed at the Buckhead Loft at Level V when an argument spilled into the parking lot and gunfire erupted.

Police do not have any suspects in this latest incident.
