APS to Hold April Board Meeting at Jackson High School

The April 10 meeting will be held at Jackson for "capacity" and "proximity"

The Atlanta Public Schools board of education will hold an important April meeting at Jackson High School.

According to an e-mail, the April 10 meeting β€” where board members are expected to vote on the final plan to close underutilized schools and redraw school attendance zones β€” will be held at Jackson High School. Plans for Buckhead schools, including the middle school configuration, will be included.

The district chose Jackson because of the expected crowd and proximity to the downtown central office.

Board of education meetings are typically held at the downtown headquarters. Since the redistricting process began in November, meetings have been well attended and overflow rooms were set up to give all attendees access to the live feed.

The auditorium at Jackson seats more people and the overflow room has a greater capacity.
