  1. Atlanta Ballet's Centre for Dance Education will be holding an open house this Saturday! Classes will be open for both children and adults from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The center is located by the Publix at Chastain Square - upstairs, on the Wild Birds Unlimited/Wild Wing Cafe side of the shopping center. Call 404-303-1501 for more information. (North Buckhead Civic Association via Facebook)
  2. The City of Atlanta will lease up to 700 beds from the Atlanta City Detention Center temporarily to help overcrowding in the Fulton County Jail and other facilities. The Buckhead Public Safety Task Force's recent report recommended the Atlanta jail be used to house Fulton inmates. Mayor Andre Dickens stated, β€œI remain committed to fully repurposing the ACDC facility for non-incarceration purposes. But we are also confronted by a real and immediate crisis of overcrowding at the Fulton County Jail." According to the mayor, the temporary lease agreement will allow Atlanta to help alleviate the current crisis, while also providing the county necessary time to develop a long-term solution. 3. Crews are gearing up to extend the Beltline trail from Piedmont Park north to Lindbergh. Project construction continues as the trail is cleared and leveled. The Northeast Trail is the segment starting at 10th and Monroe β€” this project will create the long-awaited connection deeper into Buckhead. Crews are working towards the goal to have an off-street, paved route connecting southwest and northeast Atlanta. (Axios)
