Atlanta Cancer Survivors Event Set for Buckhead
This annual event offers a chance to meet other cancer survivors, engage in interactive workshops, learn some tips for getting back to a normal lifestyle, or just sit back and enjoy the music and companionship.
On Saturday, June 21, Atlanta-area cancer survivors, their families and friends are invited to come celebrate their survivorship by sharing food, music, stories and workshops at the Celebration of Living event sponsored by the Winship Cancer Institute of Emory University and Saint Josephβs Cancer Survivors' Network.
Celebration of Living is free and open to the public, and will be held from 8am to 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Roswell Road in Buckhead. This annual Winship event offers a chance to meet other cancer survivors, engage in interactive workshops, learn some tips for getting back to a normal lifestyle, or just sit back and enjoy the music and companionship.
This yearβs event features workshops in βjournaling for hope,β laughter yoga, light zumba, jewelry making, drumming for joy and many other activities.Β There will be door prizes for survivors and lunch will be provided. Highlighting the morning, Laura and Susan Stachler, a mother-daughter duo, will talk about how they founded Susansnaps, a gourmet gingersnap cookie company inspired by an idea during chemotherapy.

Event organizer Mary Brookhart, part of Winshipβs breast cancer multidisciplinary team and a 25-year breast cancer survivor, says the theme of this yearβs celebration is βgrowing hope together.β
βSurviving cancer starts the moment you get diagnosed,β said Brookhart in a news release. βOur hope is that one day, all cancer patients will enjoy a lifetime of survivorship.β

Celebration of LivingΒ will be held in the Fellowship Hall of Peachtree Presbyterian Church located at 3434 Roswell Rd. in Buckhead. Lunch will be provided and the whole event is free but pre-registration is encouraged atΒ www.bit.ly/GrowHope.
