Atlanta City Council to Honor Beloved Restaurateur Dante Stephensen

The Atlanta City Council will honor a beloved Buckhead restaurateur at its Monday meeting.

Dante Stephensen, the owner of Dante's Down the Hatch, which closed its doors July 30 after 43 years, is known for his colorful stories and amazing life experiences.

“Dante’s was an Atlanta tradition.  Locals and tourists alike flocked to this unique establishment to experience a taste of the city in a communal fashion,” said Post 1 At-Large Councilmember Michael Julian Bond. “This proclamation is our small gesture of gratitude to Mr. Stephensen for four decades of service to Atlanta.”

The proclamation presentation will begin at 1 p.m. A reception will be held in the southwest atrium on the second floor of Atlanta City Hall at noon.

Gospel singer Dottie Peoples will also be honored at the meeting.
