Atlanta Man Killed in Marietta Crash

Two other drivers were involved but did not suffer injuries in the Thursday morning incident, police said.

Cobb County police have released the identities of the people involved in a fatal head-on collision in Marietta on Thursday morning.

Carlton Todd, 26 of Atlanta was behind the wheel of a 2001 Dodge Durango heading south on Bells Ferry Road near Manuel Drive at 8:36 a.m. when he strayed into northbound traffic, police said Friday. Todd’s Durango crashed head-on with a 1999 GMC flatbed truck driven by Wilder Rosales, 71.

According to police, the force of the impact caused Rosales’ truck to enter the southbound lanes of Bells Ferry Road and hit a 2000 Toyota 4Runner driven by Robert Whiten, 52 of Marietta.

Investigators speculate that Todd may have been sleepy or drowsy due to recent shift work, and believe this may have been a significant contributing factor to the wreck.
