Daylight saving time begins on March 12. According to history, we can thank entomologist George Hudson for coming up with the idea in 1895. Implementation took place in 1918 to save resources and extend the work day during wartime. In 1966, daylight saving time became the law of the land, but states could opt out. So far, only Hawaii and Arizona have done so. Now, there are dueling studies pointing to the successes and failures of the practice. Where do you stand on the issue?

1. A shoutout to Malik Brown! He's the city’s Director of LGBTQ Affairs, and earlier this week was made a Forever 404 Honoree. Brown works behind the scenes to affect systemic change “by advising on policies, programs, and initiatives affecting the LGBTQ community.” Congratulations! (Atlanta Hawks)
2. We’re losing our Bed, Bath & Beyond at 1 Buckhead Loop! If you went over the weekend, you may have noticed that a liquidation sale has begun. It’s supposed to continue for a few more weeks until everything’s sold. To sweeten the deals, the retailer is offering 20% off any product in stock. For those feeling nostalgic, do you remember the grand opening in December 1996? (Tomorrow’s News Today)
3. Georgia Works is eyeing the Odd Fellows building at 250 Auburn Avenue as a new headquarters. However, before this deal can go through, the project must receive a zoning waiver. Georgia Works plans to help “chronically homeless men with supportive and affordable housing.” The Zoning Review Board meets on February 9. (Saporta Report)
4. The Holeman & Finch Public House is opening on February 9 at 1201 Peachtree Street Northeast. Initial hours of operation will be “Tuesday-Thursday from 4pm-11pm and Friday-Saturday from 4pm-12am.” If you’ve been missing the restaurant over the two years that it’s been gone, make a reservation and head to Colony Square!
