Pink hearts, boxes of chocolates, and greeting cards – reminders that Valentine’s Day is coming are everywhere. But responses to the holiday are mixed. What are your feelings about the occasion? 1. Chad Dillon, the owner of The Boiler Seafood and Crab Boil, is walking the walk. We learned on Thursday that he’s “using his capitalistic expertise to help his philanthropic endeavors in providing succor to prison inmates in starting a business.” His Venturing Outside Foundation “mentors incarcerated individuals to start enterprises upon release.” Besides that, he’s known for hiring “formerly incarcerated people” at his restaurant. He also offers startup money to some of his mentees. (Forbes/paywall)
2. Faced Facial Studio opened Thursday at 294 Buckhead Avenue. For your first visit, note that “Faced validates for 3 hours of parking in the Buckhead Village North Garage Parking.” It's the latest studio to open up. Others are in the Morningside Village and the Westside Provisions District. (Faced, 2)
3. You might be enjoying your food at a celebrity chef’s restaurant! A case in point is the Holeman & Finch Public House, which will soon open at 1201 Peachtree Street Northeast. Linton Hopkins is the culinary powerhouse behind it; besides that, “he was named champion of Iron Chef: Atlanta and took silver in Iron Chef: America.” Thursday’s report also outlines that Scott Conant, who opened Americano at 3315 Peachtree Road Northeast, is a former Chopped judge and “was the head judge and host for the Food Network’s 24-Hour Restaurant Battle, and he has appeared on Chopped, Iron Chef and Top Chef.” (Discovery Atlanta)
4. Buckhead is getting a Destiny Church expansion. The first service will be held on January 29 at the Galloway School Auditorium. The leader of the congregation will be Bishop Chris. He’s a media personality appearing on “Ready To Love” Season 1 and YouTube’s “Kountry Wayne” along with being the “founder of The Christopher Collection, a custom clothing line for men and women.” (Newswires)
