📰 Here are the top stories in Buckhead today:
- The Atlanta Police Department (APD) dealt with a double-shooting early Saturday morning at 1265 Lee Street Southwest and 1220 Murphy Avenue. Both shooting victims were alive. It turns out that the second victim was shot alongside the first one at the initial address. And, as is the case with so many of these shootings, the gun came out when a verbal dispute escalated. (APD)
- Earlier, we talked about the public safety training center and the last-ditch efforts to stop its construction. Plaintiffs filed suit because of environmental concerns. A Superior Court Judge for Fulton County didn’t see it their way and ruled against the plaintiffs. Saturday’s report outlines that the judge stated that “property owned by a governmental entity for governmental purposes is exempt from local zoning ordinances.” (Rough Draft Atlanta)
- If you’re looking for something fun to do with the kids, head to the Buckhead Butcher Shop at 3198 Cains Hill Place Northwest on February 24 at noon. The friendly staff will host a Kids Cooking Class! “Bring your little one (8+) and enjoy a fun afternoon of 'shopping' for ingredients and making homemade pizzas with Chef Leonard.” However, only six spots are open, so you might want to hurry to sign up! (Buckhead Butcher Shop)
- In semi-related news, designer Abbey Glass is hosting a pop-up shopping experience at No 18 Buckhead on Tuesday. It opens at 10 a.m., and you can join for “light bites and a Q&A session with Abbey Glass herself at 11 a.m.” (Buckhead Village District)
- The Goodwill store at 888 Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard Southwest hosted an official ribbon cutting on Thursday. In business at that location since 1973, the store underwent a much-needed overhaul. “Renovations include an updated layout with new wall graphics, fresh paint, new flooring, an employee break room, LED lights and more organized racks and shelves.” (Saporta Report)
