Buckhead Crime Blotter: Smash-and-Grab Car Thefts Increase

From Nov. 25-Dec. 1, Zone 2 had 46 reports of car break-ins, many were smash-and-grab incidents. One incident occurred in a church parking lot and another thief stole broke into a vehicle and stole a Bible.

The following police reports were filed Nov. 25- Dec. 1 by Zone 2 of the Atlanta Police Department and submitted to Buckhead Patch. During this period, the zone filed 118 police reports. All information is presumed to be accurate.

Larceny 11/19-28/12

A woman said her babysitter stole her Macbook Pro and her credit card and made unauthorized transactions. There were no cameras and no fingerprints. The babysitter had access to items in the home on 4400 block of Northside Parkway NW.

Larceny from Auto 11/24/12 at 8-10:40 p.m.

A suspect broke into a Range Rover and stole golf clubs, golf bag, tool bag and iPad 2. The incident occurred at the 100 block of East Andrews Drive NW.

Residential Burglary 11/24-26/12

A burglar stole a washer, dryer, air conditioning unit and tools from a vacant house on the 3400 block of Old Plantation Road NW. There are no locks at the premises. No prints were available, and there was no video.

Larceny from Auto 11/27/12 at 3 p.m.

A woman realized once she got home that her purse and briefcase were missing from her vehicle. She said she left her vehicle unlocked while she picked her child up from daycare.

Larceny 11/27/12 at 5:20 p.m.

An unknown suspect entered the victim's locked locker at the YMCA, 1160 Moores Mill NW, then stole his checks and $92 in cash from his wallet. The wallent and other items were still secured in the locker when he returned.

Parking lot of St. Anne's Episcopal Church, 3098 Saint Anne's Lane NWΒ Β Β Β Β 

An unknown subject smashed the window of the victim's 2000 white Chevy, then stole her black bag with personal records.

Larceny from Auto 11/29/12 at 5:30 p.m.

A suspect broken into the victim's white 2001 Ford and stole his laptop and Bible. A suspect in a white Crown Victoria was seen in the area where the car break-in occurred.

Robbery-Commercial 11/30/12 at 9:51 p.m.

Suspect entered The Family Dollar Store at 2567 Bolton Road NW and demanded cash from the victim. The victim stalled and the suspect struck her several times in the neck and back with a pistol before fleeing on foot.
